Gus Aubrey, 87, of Oelwein, Iowa, died suddenly on Sunday afternoon, July 10, 2022, at MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 15, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with Rev. Ray Atwood officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.
Knights of Columbus Rosary: 4:15 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Parish Scripture Service: 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Military Graveside Rights by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

John Patrick Aubrey was born December 31, 1934, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of John Samuel Aubrey and Agnes (Egan) Aubrey. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in the class of 1952. Gus was united in marriage to Joann Mardell Dumpman on February 11, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Gus served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He took training in Ft. Hood, Texas and was stationed in Germany for one year. Gus worked for Ed McCarthy at McCarthy's hog farm for several years before working at DeKalb in Oelwein for 30 years, retiring as an area foreman. After retirement, Gus was asked by DeKalb to work in Hawaii at their seed corn operation for a short time.
Gus was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, always willing to pitch in to help out on church projects. He volunteered full time with Kevin Steggall for 13 years at the church and school. He was a member of the Oelwein Knights of Columbus Council #1168 and was a 4th Degree member of the Oelwein Knights of Columbus Assembly #1853.
Gus enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, spending winter months in Arizona with Joann and spending time with family and friends. Gus will be greatly missed and remembered for his wonderful smile.
Gus is survived by his Wife of 66 years: Joann Aubrey of Oelwein; Many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews and Cousins.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Diane Lynn at birth,4 sisters: Lorraine Short, Lucille Wardell, Kathryn Steffen & Margaret Sproull and 2 brothers: Bill Aubrey & Bob Aubrey.
