Donald "Duck" Somers, 54, of Parkside Manor, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Samuel Stratton Veteran Administration Hospital. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Wellington L. Somers, Sr. and Mildred Nash Somers. He was educated in Waterford schools. Duck had worked as a farm hand and in the construction field. Most recently he was a self-employed handyman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. He was the brother of Robert M. Somers of Calif., Wellington L. Somers, Jr. (Linda) of Colonie, Jacqueline Savoca of Ravena, Sarah Bushey (Dan) of Colonie, Carol Hoefer (Jim) of Malta, Thomas Somers (Kim) of Halfmoon, and the late Richard G. and John N. Somers. Also surviving is his good friend, Doug; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford.
