Charles Dutro Cain, "Curly", 88, passed away on July 7, 2022 at Millers Merry Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Hartford City on October 4, 1933 to Charles W. Cain and Grace A. (Dutro) Cain. His parents preceded him in death.

Curly graduated from Roll High School in 1951. He was very proud to be a Roll Red Roller. In high School he was a star basketball player and part of the team that won the 1951 Sectional. To accomplish this Sectional Win, the Red Rollers had to beat Hartford City and Montpelier teams in the same day. He married Rosalind Marie (Barker) on June 21, 1953 at Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church in Wells County. She passed away on March 1, 2022. Curly was a member of Blackford Baptist Temple and Local UAW. He formerly was a member of the Roll United Methodist Church. He retired in 2008 from GM Marion Plant after 48 years of service. Curly was a hard worker and throughout the years he had his own business, Cain's Excavating, was a Blackford County Farmer and had been a regular bus driver to sporting events for the schools. He also liked gardening.

He will be sadly missed by his sons, Tim L. Cain of Hartford City, Ted. L. (wife, Sandra) Cain of Hartford City and Tod L. Cain of Montpelier; grandchildren, Tera (husband, Austin) Rich, Evan Cain, Scott (wife, Leanna) Cain, Amanda (husband, Steve) Lakie, Brittany (husband, Patrick) Seneff, Destiny (husband, Michael) McWhirt and Tod Matthew Cain and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Stephen Cain and brother, Lloyd N. Cain.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Blackford Baptist Temple, 2252 N. State Road 3, Hartford City with Rev. Steve Lakie officiating, assisted by his son, Ted Cain. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Blackford Baptist Temple.
