Douglas Isiah Johnson, age 26, beloved son, brother, and father passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2022. He was born into a loving family on April 10, 1996, in Columbia, Missouri, the only son of David and Carla (McDonald) Johnson.

Douglas had a bright and beautiful smile that would light up the room, a deep and commanding voice, a raucous sense of humor, always cracking hysterical jokes and funny spot-on imitations. He never hesitated to tell his family "I love you!" Growing up in a very close knit family, he loved pizza night with his cousins every Friday, visiting his grandparents often, family vacations to Louisiana to visit relatives, "swimming at night" at the hotel, riding his bike, listening to music and dancing, and playing video games. He had a very special relationship with his sister and loved "Caitlyn and Douggie Day" when they would binge watch movies together on Saturday afternoons. Like his Grandfather's McDonald and Johnson, Douglas was a gifted artist and proudly displayed his exceptional drawings, paintings, statues, and posters all around the house. Most of all Douglas loved playing and watching basketball-especially LeBron James.

In 2014, Douglas graduated from David H. Hickman High School in Columbia MO., where he played varsity basketball. He assisted his team in winning multiple Shoot-Out tournaments, 2- Quarterfinal and District Championships in 2013, and 2014, and 2nd and 3rd place in the Missouri State Championships. He received numerous basketball accolades throughout his life including: the Jim McLeod Award for "Outstanding Senior Male Basketball Player" and named All-District player his senior year. During his days at West Jr. High School (now West Middle School) his 7th, 8th and 9th grade teams won the Championship. He loved playing with his Orangemen brothers at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) levels. Those Orangemen teams won many Show-Me State Games, Mid-American Youth Basketball (MAYB), and AAU Championships. They were nationally ranked #17 by MAYB and were nationally ranked in the AAU. His love for the game all started from his days playing "Pee Wee" Hoops with his cousin Patrick "Taye" Hunt and his Orangemen teammates. He enjoyed playing against rival Rock Bridge High School and would have his biggest moments and games during that rivalry. He also received a basketball scholarship to attend John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois.

One title he loved even more than basketball was "Dad" to his beautiful 3-year old daughter Kamdyn Veyda Johnson with longtime partner Brittney Dyson. He loved being "Kam's" Dad! He was a big kid at heart and his happy place was always spending time together with her at the park or a play place. The last time they played together was spent playing Tag and giggling at Flips. When she was afraid he would encourage her and say, "Don't be scared chicken nugget!" Douglas truly loved his family, and especially playing and keeping life magical for Kam.

Douglas is survived by daughter Kamdyn Johnson (Columbia), parents David and Carla Johnson (Columbia), Sisters- Caitlyn Johnson (Kansas City) and Joy Ayu (Chaska, MN), Grandmother, Mary McDonald, Aunts- Alisa McDonald Warren (St. Louis), Sheila Johnson and Maxine Johnson (Columbia), Uncles- Frank Johnson, Ray Johnson, and Michael Johnson (Columbia), and many cousins. Douglas was preceded in death by his Grandfather Chester McDonald, Grandparents Frankie and Allean Johnson, and cousin Sha'kara Hayes.
