Jessica Nicole Carter (Frye), 37, of Greencastle, died Thursday, July 7, 2022, after a courageous 19-day battle in the ICU after suffering a massive pulmonary embolism and subsequent infection.

Jessica was born in Greencastle on July 17, 1984, to Andy Frye and Lauri Miller Neeley.

Jessica graduated from North Putnam High School and earned degrees from Vincennes University, Ivy Tech Community College and Boise State University.

Jessica was an EMT and respiratory care practitioner who dedicated her life to the care of others. Jessica throughout her career as a respiratory care practitioner worked at Riley Children's Hospital, St. Vincent's 86th Street, Hendricks Regional Health and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jessica sewed more than 600 masks for individuals in our community and delivered care packages to local first responders. Jessica then deployed on crisis contracts to communities in Illinois and Missouri to help support healthcare organizations in need.

Jessica was also known to many as the local Tupperware lady. Jessica's infectious smile, charm and charisma convinced many people to buy more plastic bowls than they would reasonably ever need. Those same traits often turned her "customers" into lifelong friends.

Jessica lived life with steadfast purpose, fully dedicating herself to whatever she was doing. Jessica was a proud wife and mother who demonstrated a relentless love for her family. Jessica enjoyed crafting, DIY projects, and raising beautiful flowers.

Jessica is survived by her husband of 14 years, Matt; two young sons, Miles (8) and Winston (3); her parents; sister Shelby Fordice (Jared); nephew Jensen Fordice; brother Bailey Frye; grandmother Louise Miller; and her aunt and uncle, Wayne and Linda Bright with whom she had a special bond. Jessica is additionally survived by countless other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hopkins Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle. The visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2022, from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the ICU care team at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital, which valiantly fought to attempt to save Jessica's life.
