Loving mother, nanny and friend Shirley Fisher went to be with the Lord on July 6, she was surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on October 5, 1943, to the late Homer Benson and Catherine Harlow Ramsey. Shirley will be joining her father and mother along with her brothers David Benson, Delmar Benson, Glenn Harlow, her sisters Mary Mongold and Madeline Hildebrand in Heaven.

Shirley is survived by many loving family members, including her daughters Lisa Hizer (Bobby), Kim Lipscomb (Lee), Theresa Lipscomb (Tommy) her grandchildren Jacob Lipscomb (Amber) Melissa Riggleman, Donnie Allman Jr, Brad Allman Corey O'Leary (Courtney) Tara Harris her great grandchildren Jade Riggleman, Madeline Riggleman, Gracia Riggleman, Liam Riggleman, Christian Lipscomb, Andy Rae Lipscomb, Wyatt Allman Xavier Lawson Montana Grimm Layneleigh O'Leary Maverick O'Leary She also had 3 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren, a special son in law Ronnie Riggleman sisters Polly Thacker Mary Benson brothers Arther "Spyder" Benson Mark Benson Bobby Benson Steven Benson and Michael Benson.

Shirley was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord and was an integral part of Beechgrove Christian Church. Now that Shirley has passed into the arms of her Lord, we remind ourselves that this is the end of her physical life on earth, and the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey to be with our Lord and Savior.

The simplest things in life brought great joy to her. She enjoyed playing Bingo with all of her friends to whom she had lasting friendships. She never missed a senior bingo event held monthly at one of our local Moose Lodges where she was a member for over 20 years, she volunteered at the Moose for many special events including the Special Olympics. She was also a faithful member of the Red Hat Society.

Shirley was a great seamstress and was always making masks, Bingo bags or baby blankets. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities, whether watching a movie on her tablet, eating Pringles or feeding her chickens. One of her best qualities was to put a smile on your face or make you laugh; she always had a joke to tell. Shirley's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She especially cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to the beach and of course she would always find a place to play Bingo.

Through her many medical battles including a 2x breast cancer survivor she never complained she never asked the Lord why-instead she gave her life to Christ and lived her life to the fullest as a faithful servant to our Lord.

She also leaves behind many friends who she loved, she leaves behind Lenora Mathias who she has known for over 40 years and a very close and dear friend Connie Brittle. She also leaves behind two very special family members David and Theresa Dudley who was part of the family that surrounded her with love as she departed to her glorious heaven. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews that she loved. Shirley never met a stranger and her love for life was unmeasurable. We will continue her legacy through family and friendship and her love for the Lord.

Please join us on July 15th at the Waynesboro Moose Lodge at 4 PM for a "Celebration of Life" officiated by special friend and pastor Mike Auen the only thing you need to bring is a memory. In lieu of flowers a donation to one of her favorite charities in her name is her wish, National Breast Cancer Foundation, St. Judes or the Special Olympics.

Our family would also like to thank Public Partnership, Hospice of Charlottesville, the many doctors, nurses at Augusta Health who have taken care of Shirley for the past 20 years, Dr. Young of Carillion of Waynesboro, and the many doctors and nurses at UVA who assisted in her care and guided us to make the best decisions for our loving mother, nanny and friend. A special thanks to McDow Funeral Home for making a difficult situation seamless.
