Mrs. Della Rose York Jackson, 94, of Richmond, the widow of William "Bill" Jackson, went home to be the Lord, on Wednesday, July 6, at Telford Terrace.

She was born on December 8, 1927, in Bond, Kentucky to Jessie and Lilly Casteel York, both of whom preceded her in death. Her mother passed away when she was 18 months old, and she and her three brothers were reared by their grandparents, Elias and Rachel Casteel. She was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was truly a Mother/Grandmother (Nana) to many others who knew her and loved her.

Della was a loving member of The First Baptist Church for several years, serving on several committees. She was proud member of the BEST (as she often referred) Builder's Bible Sunday School Class. She was a dedicated employee of JC Penny's for 32 years, where she retired as Assistant Manager. Her pride and joy were her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband of 46 years, William "Bill" Jackson, she was preceded in death by her three brothers and special sisters-in-law, who were like sisters, Fred York (Pearl), Bob York (Dolly) and Don York (Evelyn), her brother-in-law and wife: James Jr. Jackson (Bettye) and a special niece, Donna York Foley.
