He was born November 14, 1925, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of B. Springer and Frances Counselman North.
He was a member of the West Alexander Presbyterian Church.
Mr. North was a 1943 graduate of West Alexander High School; and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Infantry.
He was a retired truck driver.
Mr. North was a 60-year member of American Legion Post 656, West Alexander; and enjoyed working outside and playing cards.
On December 7, 1946, in West Alexander, he married Velma Jean Guess, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Donald A. (Michele) North of Canonsburg, Pa., David L. North and Robert C. (Bonnie) North, both of West Alexander; two daughters, Rebecca J. (Greg) Lemasters of West Alexander, and Susan L. (Ross) Kempes of Hollywood, Fla.; a sister, Eleanor Hunter of Washington, nine grandchildren, Erin and Ryan North, David L. Jr. and Chad North, Carl and Bob North, Valerie Dillie, and Greg Jr. and Keith Lemasters; two step-grandchildren, Yvette Duffield and Evey Jones; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Helen Hunter.
Friends will be received Monday, from 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in Michael H. Heinrich Funeral Home, 101 Main St, West Alexander, where services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Koehler officiating.
Interment in West Alexander Cemetery.
West Alexander American Legion Post 656 will conduct a flag folding ceremony at graveside.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Legion Post 656, West Alexander, PA 15376.
