Obituary
Sandra Davis was preceded in death by her mother, Helen C Leighow and father, Keith Leighow. She was married to William Gordon Davis fifty-seven years until his passing in April of 2014. Sandra was also preceded in death by her only son, Craig L Davis, at the age of 33 in August 1991. Her grandson, William "Gene" Guthrie was killed in a motorcycle accident in August 2021 at age 34.

Sandra's mother, Helen Leighow, claimed that Sandra began tap dancing at 18 months old when she was caught doing a "triple time step" while leaning on a window sill. She was also able to sing in tune and with lyrics when she was only 3 years old.

Sandra was a semi-professional dancer that toured with a professional dance company during the summer months when she was 16-17 years old, performing at various out of town events. She was also very proud to have been elected to the National Honor Society by her teachers and fellow students at Wyandotte High School.

As an active member of the Kansas City Chapter of Sweet Adelines from 1972–2012, Sandra sang bass in the barbershop harmony chorus and quartets. She was their Choreographer/dance teacher for five of those years, forming a tap dancing team that performed at the international competition.

She worked for the government for thirty years: four years at the Social Security Administration and twenty-six years for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), retiring as a GS-12 Management Analyst in the Budget Division.

At age 63, Sandra attended college in order to obtain student health insurance until she turned 65. She took piano, physical education, and excelled in Spanish. She later volunteered two-hundred hours to Hospice, during which time she translated a book written by C W Yang called "Book of Proverbs". It was written in Chinese, but with Mom's help, it was translated to English and Sandra's name is in the book as an acknowledgement.

Sandra leaves behind a daughter, Kelley Guthrie; two grandchildren, Melissa Hargrave and Mitchell "Travis" Guthrie; four great-grandchildren, Cassie and Cody Hargrave and Buck and Grace Guthrie; three great-great-grandchildren, Callie Mae, Stetson and Weston.

A graveside service for Sandra will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 from 11:00 to 11:30 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas.
