Brother Gossett accepted Christ at an early age joining St. James Baptist Church. He received his education from Lincoln High School in Camden, Arkansas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later returned to Camden, Arkansas and became a superb cement finisher and local business owner.
Brother Gossett leaves to cherish his memory one son, Johnny Gossett, Jr. (Cynthia) Camden, Arkansas, four grandchildren, D'Eric Warren (Angela), Hope, Arkansas; Jamir Gossett, Camden, Arkansas; KeJuane Gossett, Arlington, Texas; Chasity Gossett, Camden, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren Karriel Williams, Anaiah Warren, and De'Shante Talley, Jr., one step son, Ronnie Young (Judy) Denver, Colorado; one god daughter, Star Rogers, Atlanta Georgia; and a very devoted companion, Delois Dawn of Camden, Arkansas, a host of relatives and friends.
