Officer John T. Arnold received his commission on August 24, 1980. Officer Arnold retired from a work related on-duty injury on August 12, 1991.

Of note, his brother James Arnold was a St. Louis Police Officer as well.

John Timothy "Tim" Arnold, of Bismarck, entered into eternal rest on July 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 65. He was born on June 4, 1957, in Harrison, Arkansas, to the late John Thomas and Norma (Guthland) Arnold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Lisa Lynette Tucker.

Tim came from a family of law enforcement veterans and knew from his early childhood that he wanted to follow in their footsteps. After graduating from Jefferson College with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, he attended the St. Louis Police Academy. He was a police officer for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for many years and was awarded the St. Louis Police Officer of the Year Award in 1982 and, also attained the rank of Marksman. Tim was passionate about his career as a protector in the community but was forced to retire after being injured in the line of duty. He went on to work for Valley High School in Caledonia for 17 years as a substitute teacher and was also in charge of in school suspension. He enjoyed hunting and traveling the world. He was an amazing horseman and loved spending time on his horse farm with his wife and daughter and attending horse shows locally and throughout the country. Tim will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
