He was born July 22, 1832, in Windham township, Portage county, Ohio, and was married to Mary Jane Hart, September, 21 1853. Three children were born, two boys and one girl, all survive him. Mrs. Earl died march 30, 1898. In 1889, the left Ohio and came to Kansas, on a farm several miles south of Downs.
