BRITTON
Mrs. S. F. Britton died Monday night at the home of Mrs. Steele in this city. She had suffered for several years with tuberculosis. For some weeks she had been with her mother-in-law on Litsey avenue, but on Monday had taken rooms at Mrs. Steele's. Thinking that she could sleep better by being alone, she retired that night with her two little children, a boy and girl, telling them that she wanted them to be good children and meet her in heaven. The next morning when the servant entered the room she found Mrs. Britton dead and the little children sleeping quietly by her side. The evening before she died she requested the following songs be sung at her funeral: "Nearer, My God, to Thee," "Asleep in Jesus," Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." Funeral services were conducted Wednesday by Dr. M. G. Buckner at 2 o'clock at the Christian church of which she had long been a conscientious member. The interment took place in Spring Hill cemetery.
