Mr. Robert Leroy Watson, age 73, passed away Sunday evening, June 26, 2022, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He was born December 26, 1948, the son of Leroy and Panis Kearney Watson.
Robert graduated from Greene Central High School as a member of the class of 1967 and married his high school sweetheart in 1968. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage together. A veteran, he served his country in the US Army Reserve, was an active member of the American Legion Shirley-Hill Post 94 in Snow Hill, and the Jason Presbyterian Church. Robert enjoyed life and had many hobbies including boating, fishing, scuba diving, cruising the intercoastal waterways on his boat "LADY SOUL", and dancing. In earlier years, showing and training horses with his children was a passion but later in life riding motorcycles with Linda became a favorite pastime. Known for his outgoing charismatic personality, he never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda Carraway Watson; daughter, Allison Watson Ross and husband Jamie of LaGrange; son, Robert Ashley Watson and wife Tracey of Graham; sister, Iteelia W. Wall and husband Carlton of LaGrange; brother, Calvin Watson and wife Winifred of LaGrange; grandchildren, Hasten Watson, Harrison Watson, Lyndsey Page Ross, and Patrick James Ross; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 1st, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with Pastor Scott Hardy officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
The Family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the family residence.
Robert will lie-in-repose from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Thursday for anyone wishing to pay their respects.
