Norma Jessie Bradshaw, 87, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska.

She was born May 7, 1920, on the family farm south of Culbertson, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Orman and Jessie (Huetson) Confer.

She grew up at Culbertson where she graduated from Culbertson High School in 1937. In 1940, she graduated from the Platt-Gard Business College at St. Joseph, Missouri.

On September 20, 1942, she married James Pershing Bradshaw. They came to McCook in 1972, where they spent the remainder of their lives.

She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, past president of the United Methodist Women, Chapter 1065 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the McCook China Painters, past vice president of the Nebraska World Organization of China Painters, and PEO Chapter FA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Bradshaw on July 18, 1989; two brothers, Claude Confer and Merle Confer; and three sisters, Alice Wallen, Fay Bailey, and Gladys Graves.

Norma is survived by three sons, Theodore R. Bradshaw and wife, Judy of Gretna, Louisiana, Lt. Colonel Douglas J. Bradshaw and wife, Willa of Lakewood, Colorado, and John M. Bradshaw of McCook, Nebraska; one daughter, Mary Kathryn "Katie" Rea of McCook, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Susan R. Bradshaw, James P. Bradshaw, Kyle A. Rea, Jessica M. Bradshaw, Hope E. Bradshaw and William J. Bradshaw; one great-granddaughter, Haley McDaniel; one step-great-granddaughter, Erica Rea; two brothers, Paul Confer and wife, Lillian, of Culbertson, Nebraska, and Brigadier General Harold Confer and wife, Dorothy of San Antonio, Texas; relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be January 24, 2008, at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, Nebraska, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, Nebraska.
