He was born Sept. 5th, 1959 to Martha (Rockwell) and Duane Jackson. He attended Woodrow Wilson Jr. High and East High School. He joined the US Army and served from 1975 thru 1977, completing boot camp at Ft. Knox Kentucky and serving in Germany. He married Kim Morton in 1985 and had two children, Tyler and Courtney prior to a divorce. Richard spent many hours working on cars and trucks and enjoyed his large fish tank. He was known to have a Mt. Dew in his hand for most of his adult life. He held some strong opinions and wasn't shy about sharing them. Standing over 6 foot tall with long arms, and his long thick head of hair, was quite a presence while he shared his thoughts and stories.
He is survived by his daughter, two sisters, Sharon (Harold) Brooks and Cindy (Roland) Lindner, both of McGregor, Iowa, two aunts, Linda Jones of McGregor and Jane (Ronald) Rumph of Earlham, two uncles Larry Jackson of Des Moines, and Gene (Diana) Jackson of Arizona along with numerous nieces and nephews from Des Moines, McGregor, Jesup, Ia, and several in Wisconsin.
Richard was preceded in death by his father in 2014, his mother in 2021, older brother Jim Jackson in 2015 and son Tyler in 2021.
Richard has been cremated and an inurnment will be held for the family at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, Iowa on July 12th 2022.
