William "Bill" Camp Chambers Jr., age 87, of Lumberton, TX, passed from this life on July 4, 2022. He was born on August 15, 1934, in Bowser, Drew County, Arkansas to William Camp Chambers Sr. and Patsy Phenton Patrick. Being the last of 12 kids; His sister, Polly said, "They were so tired of her being pregnant that they didn't want him, but the Good Lord must have known that and made him a beautiful baby". He loved his siblings even though they weren't as pretty as him and was always ready to help any of them that needed him.

Graduating Drew Central High School in 1952, he found his professional footing as a forester for Pomeroy McGowin. He rose through the ranks, got sent to Colombia and ran a crew of young men. Back in the States, his crew worked in East Texas around the Jasper area. He and his crew were so young and rambunctious that the police chief stopped them for an I'm watching you warning.

He made good friends with Bob and Donna Thomas. Donna worked with the lovely Nena and set her up on a blind date with Bill. That was in October 1966, and they were married four months later. She calmed him down with her, "Well, now Bill." They were such a fun young couple that when Johnny and Janice Lewis married, they went to Daddy and Nena's house to play games after the wedding until the middle of the night. Daddy and Nena were married for 54 years. They lived in homes in Louisiana and Southeast Texas.

For hobbies, Bill coached Little League for a couple of years in Louisiana. His team won all their games the second year he coached. He was a member of the Downtown Optimist and was in a bowling league. When they moved to Kirbyville more than forty years ago, he continued with Little League. He was the president of the Little League in Kirbyville for several years. His kids, especially Robert, helped him with fundraising by running a firework stand in the Market Basket parking lot.

Bill's father-in-law, Tom Denard, gave him and Nena an acre of land and helped build their house. We used to call their house The Chambers Hotel because they had company so often. The guests probably came to play 42 and eat tomato gravy and biscuits. Bill loved growing a big garden so he could give much of it away. The favorite things to eat from it were tomato sandwiches and purple hull peas! Oh yeah, don't forget the tomato gravy.

He was a lifelong, dedicated, fanatical Razorback fan. Although that faded the last couple of years. What Bill and Nena loved more was having grandchildren. They sponsored a trip to Disney World, took some of the children on a trip to Montana for Amber's graduation, and babysat some of them while their parents traveled. or worked

Bill was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and an active member of Kirbyville Church of Christ. He often turned to them for help and solace these last few years. They didn't let him down.

Left to honor his memory is the love of his daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Joe McClellan of Lufkin, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Camp and Donna Chambers of Russellville, Arkansas, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Yvonne Chambers of Richardson, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Kevin Bowman of Longmont, Colorado, son and daughter-in-law, Stacey and Amy Chambers of Lumberton, Texas; his sister-in-law, Delores Johnson of Wilsonville, Alabama; his grandchildren, Boyce, Ian, Amber, Frank, Celeste, Claire, Katherine, Adeline, Alyssa and Dakota, Richard and Roy, Christopher, Samantha, and Amanda; his great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jacob, Madison, Tatum, Lyric, Jax, Sawyer, Zoey, Zackary, Brooke, Rachal, Rebecca, Alex, and Kloie, Havanna, Haizley, Kenslee, Cooper, and Hudson, and a host of friends, extended family, and loved ones.
