Marilyn Ann Perschbacher
Marilyn Ann Perschbacher was born on June 2, 1933 to George and Margaret (Lutter) Nielson on a farm north of St. Lawrence, SD. She attended grade school at the Sunbeam Country School and was an active farm girl and helped with fieldwork. She attended high school at Miller, SD, and during those years worked for Ted and Polly Jennings doing babysitting and housework. She graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1951.
She married Royal Thompson June 6, 1951 at St. Lawrence, SD. While her husband served on active duty in Alaska, she worked in a drug store in Brookings. They began farming in 1953 near Gary, SD. Marilyn was an active partner in the dairy farm dong field work and milking cows. She was also a Sunday school teacher and UMW member in her church, the United Methodist Church of Gary, and an American Legion Auxiliary member. Farming was their lifestyle until Royal's death in a farm accident in 1976.
Marilyn married Edwin Perschbacher of Colorado Springs, CO on January 3, 1977 at Gary, SD. Ed works as an electrician in Colorado Sprints and Marilyn lived a more relaxed lifestyle as a homemaker. During these years, she had the time to develop her many special talents, as a seamstress, writing poetry, building doll houses and barns for her grandchildren, sand blasting and acid etching and always put her family first. Marilyn loved people and visiting shut-ins and had a way of making people feel special and happy.

She is survived by her husband, Ed, of Colorado Springs, CO, three sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and LuAnn Thompson of Gary, SD, David and Charleen Thompson of Watertown, SD; and Duane and Sue Thompson of Gary, SD; two step-sons, Eddie and Eric of Colorado Springs. She has six Thompson grandchildren, Neil, Scott, Anita, Amber, Nolan and Michelle. She was a very loving and caring grandmother and always made time to play games with her grandchildren. Alice) Engelmann of Miller, SD; Mrs. Don (Gleva) Schlotter of Redfield, Sd and Mrs. Donna Campbell of St. Lawrence, SD. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband Royal, and her grandson, Brian.
