Gary went to be with the Lord March 20, 2022 at his home in Walker Pass. He was born April 4, 1934 to parents Carl and Ina Davis in Springfield, Missouri. He passed away just short of his 88th birthday after a long battle with multiple health issues.

He grew up in Springfield, Missouri and went on to attend the University of Missouri at Rolla where he graduated with an engineering degree. He then was recruited by the Naval Weapons Station at China Lake. He married Ida Davis and they raised their family in Ridgecrest.

Gary spent 35 years working at China Lake where he became a Division Head at the Range department doing airborne telemetry. He loved playing softball on base for the Watusi Warriors where he was known as "Iron Arm Davis" to his teammates.

In 1979 he became a charter member of the newly formed Aqua Bonita Flyfishing Club. He spent many happy days fishing Hot Creek and the Bishop-Mammoth area. One of his favorite places was on the Green River in Utah fishing with his buddies.

After retiring, he started a matting and framing business called The Border Shack. He loved contributing his talent to many community banquets that raised money for charity.

In 1997 he married his wife Karen and they moved to Walker Pass to live the mountain life. One of his favorite things to do was to get on his 1948 8N tractor to keep the road graded to their home. He loved feeding the quail and watching the wildlife. His constant companion was his beloved golden retriever Libby.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ina Davis, his first wife Ida and his son Chris.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Karen of 25 years, daughter Becky (Nick) Dukellis of Granbury, Texas, stepchildren Bret (Laurie)Burke of Oceanside, Coleen (Ed)Salinas and Brian Burke of Ridgecrest, grandchildren Nicky (Ariel )Dukellis of San Jose, Ben Dukellis of Bakersfield, Justin Salinas of Lancaster, Megan Salinas of Toluca Lake, Alex Salinas of Ridgecrest, Kelsea (Don Black) Burke of Los Angeles, Chase (Jessica) Burke of Oceanside, and Sean (Lauren) Burke of Warsaw, Indiana, great-grandchildren Isla and Owen Burke and Tad Dukellis.
