Shirley Ann Chapman age 83 of Centreville, Michigan passed away Sunday afternoon July 3, 2022 at her home. She was born February 18, 1939 in Portsmouth, Ohio daughter of the late William and Virginia Long. Shirley resided in the Centreville and Nottawa area most of her life. On September 10, 1961 she married David Lee Chapman in Sturgis, Michigan. He preceded her in death November 3, 2020.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Shirley had been employed by Falkenstein Flowers and the Wood Motel both in Sturgis and had also worked at a motel in Chicago.
She was a member of the New Beginning Church in Sturgis.

Shirley's generosity was over flowing. She would donate unneeded items throughout the county believing that if someone else could use an item it should never be wasted and just thrown away. She enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard, crafting, needlepoint and had made blankets for all of her grandchildren. Her grandchildren will forever remember making potato babies with grandma. Shirley's greatest joy in life was her family.

She is survived by three daughters: Leesa Chapman and Doris (Jack) Glick both of Three Rivers and Toni (Steve) Bass of Jacksonville, Florida; one son: David Lee (Heather) Chapman of Nottawa; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Evelyn Reeb of Colon and Freda Hathaway of Auburn, Indiana; one brother: Ronald (Carol) Long of Sturgis and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter: Virginia Soule; granddaughter: Stacy LeAnn Fogleson, great grandson: Marco David Chapman; sister: Joy Jordan and brothers: Harold, William, Randy and Adrian Long.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. Friday at the New Beginnings Church, 63022 M-66 in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Shirley Ann Chapman will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Randy Evans will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Nottawa Cemetery in Nottawa.
