John J. "Jake" Laureto, Sr., a loving husband, father, and grandfather of Flushing, age 72, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at home. Funeral services will be 4pm Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Rossell Funeral Home with Joe Kalush and Beth Eichenberg officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be 11am-3pm and 5-8pm both Tuesday and Wednesday and 2pm until time of the services Thursday. A Rosary will be prayed 3:30pm Thursday at the funeral home. Jake was born August 22, 1937 in Flint, MI, the son of Samuel J., Sr. and Stella M. (Kaczmarek) Laureto. He married Loretta P. Barrett at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Flint on September 27, 1957. He was a Metallurgist at Buick for 35 years, retiring in 1999. In the 1970's, Jake was active in the Flint Olympian and CANUSA Games. He was a very avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working around the house.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sam and wife Jean Laureto; and sister, Joan (Hennessy) and husband Don Neuens.
