On July 7, 2022, Chrystal Johnson of Hershey unexpectedly died July 2, 2022, at Great Plains Health at the age of 55.
Chrystal, the daughter of Joseph and Kathleen Johnson, was born March 29, 1967, at Chadron. She grew up in Hershey where she graduated from high school in 1985 then attended Mid Plains Community College.
Chrystal hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a switchman but due to an injury while on the job she was unable to work for several years. In 2010 she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, and eventually returned to Hershey nine years later, and was able to work as a waitress and later at Kelsey's Bar.
Chrystal loved animals, flowers and being outside and she liked to fish. She especially loved spending time with her family and being with her sister's children, Colby, Olivia and Dalton. Chrystal was taken from us all too soon and will forever be missed and loved.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Johnson, and mother, Kathleen Johnson Miller.
Survivors included her sister, Misty (Lyle) Rhoten of Omaha; half brother, Tyler Johnson of Lincoln; stepfather, Bruce Miller of Hershey; as well as her nieces, nephews and other family.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements
