Services for Earl F. Pickens, 89, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jehovah Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Wallace officiating. Interment will be at the Jehovah Cemetery.

Pickens was born to Johnnie and Jenny Pickens July 4, 1911, in Newport. He died Oct. 17, 2000, in Ardmore.

Pickens married Eva Mae Stevenson in 1936. She preceded him in death in November 1951. Other family members preceding him in death were his parents, six brothers and one sister.

Pickens attended school at the St. John School in Newport. In 1936 he met and married Eva Mae Stevenson. To this union four children were born. He was a member of Jehovah Baptist Church. He was employed by Ardmore City Schools as a custodian, as well as a farmer and brick mason's assistant. He departed this mortal life Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at the Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore.

He leaves to forever cherish his memories four children and one stepson, Veola Scott and A.C. and Lonnie Pickens, all of Ardmore, and Earl Jr. and stepson Robert Murray, both of Dallas. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, lots of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends to remember him.

Bearers will be Stevan Scott, Kevin McGee, Joe Pickens, Greg Johnson, Micah Pickens and Gary Don Pickens.

Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
