Jerry Lee Dean, "Poppy", 74, of Midlothian, Va. went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2022. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Ellen Creech Dean of Midlothian, Va.; five children, David Revels (Kelly), Amy Ingram (Walt), Robin Roberts, Holly Dooley (Steve) and Ashli Claytor (Daniel); 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Miller Dean; father, Alonza Lee Dean; and brother, Robert Miller all of Erwin, N.C.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and qualified as an expert in Rifle Marksmanship.
Upon returning from service, Jerry resumed his job at Philip Morris and retired after 38 years in Management.
Jerry loved his family, the beach, fishing and a good round of golf. If he wasn't practicing his short game, he could be found with one of his grandchildren sneaking a sweet. He was a faithful member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church where he was known for his acts of service. He served as Lead Usher for many years and chaired the Staff Parrish Committee. He grew his committed faith and relationship with our Lord by serving with the United Methodist Men, a group that he dearly loved. He also served on the Board of Directors at Stonehenge Country Club where he spend many golden hours. He will be missed by many but will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church at 11551 Lucks Lane, Midlothian, Va. 23114. Family will receive guests at 1:30 p.m. with funeral service held at 2 p.m. A private interment at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia will be held for family at a later date.
