International businessman and loving father, Thomas "Tom" J. Reed, Sr. of Huntingdon County passed away Thursday morning, June 30, 2022, at his home. Born May 24, 1935, in Dudley, he was the son and only child of the late Warren H. and Eleanor (Fox) Reed. He was united in marriage to Audrey (Bollman) Reed on May 3, 1958.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his four children, Gail Young and her children Brandon Jadlocki and Taylor Young, and grandson Ben Davoli, Patricia Moberg and her husband Daryl Moberg and their children Meredith Myers, husband Zachary Myers and Morgan James, husband Ryan James, Judith Reed and her husband Timothy Brown and daughter Lauren Reed-Brown, and Thomas J. Reed Jr, and wife Mary Reed and son Thomas Ryan Reed. Tom was blessed to have all his family residing close to him in the Huntingdon area.

Tom was a self-made man, starting out at a young age working side by side with his father Warren in the family owned coal mines in Dudley during the Great Depression. He learned quickly that survival meant hard work, deep appreciation for everything and treating all people with respect.

Together, Tom and Audrey forged a strong family foundation and a serious business team throughout his lifetime. As owner of multiple refractory, processing, technology and manufacturing companies, he extended his business reach world-wide leaving a lasting impression on a multitude of top business leaders. Throughout his business rise, he stayed humble, most comfortable in his favorite blue jeans, dusty hat and riding in his seasoned red truck. Tom was incredibly proud of all his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments especially his son Tom Jr.'s choice to continue running and expanding his refractory businesses.

Big T, a nickname his employees dubbed him with many years ago, was known for many things. One was his love for giving his favorite flashlights to everyone he met. It was his way to light their way if ever found in darkness. Tom was never without a dog by his side, always laughing at their silly antics and astounded by their sense of companionship.

Tom loved boating and waterskiing on Lake Raystown in his younger years. He also enjoyed spending time at his homes in New Jersey and Florida; and was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon.

Everyone would agree that Tom always had the answer to any question and a solution to any dilemma. He left a legacy behind with deeply imbedded footprints in so many lives. He will be missed immensely.
