Robert Edwin Watson, 81, of Oakland, MD, passed on July 1, 2022, at home.

He was born on July 6, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, to Carroll L. Watson and Shirley M. (Gunn) Watson. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and a brother, William Gunn.

He is survived by his spouse, Rita L. Watson; one son, William C. Watson, Morgantown; three daughters, Briana (Bobbie) Watson, Baltimore; Colleen L. Goodwin, and husband, Joseph T. Goodwin, Midland and Jackie Householder and husband, Michael Householder, Springboro, OH. He has three grandchildren, Joseph R. Goodwin, Annabel L. Goodwin and Madelyn G. Householder.

Bob, as he was affectionately known, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland; a Master of Arts Degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Baltimore. He was admitted to practice law before the Maryland Court of Appeals and the United States Federal Court for the District of Baltimore.

His greatest accomplishment was being a beloved husband, father and grandfather to those he dearly loved. He was a publisher and editor of two newspapers in Howard County, winning nine awards for Excellence in Journalism. His passions included being an Open Water Diver, a single-engine airplane pilot and his love for poetry inspired him to publish his own compilation of poems entitled "Poems for the Twilight". He loved watching movies of all genres, with his best friend, Dave Insley, each week.

He earned a Masters of Arts Degree from John Hopkins University in its exclusive Writing Seminars Master's Program. He founded Howard Cable Television Associates, Inc. and the Columbia Arts Counsel, both while living in Ellicott City, MD.

A noted landscape photographer, he started "Pictures Limited", a company organized to market and sell his framed Cibachrome color photographs. He practiced law in Garrett County for 37 years, representing many different municipalities and was well-known for passionately defending his clients.

Services will be conducted in the funereal home chapel on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Matthew Paugh officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Oakland.
