Nancy Celeste Pierantoni Monk, better known as "Mama" or "Mama Monk" to all those who knew and loved her, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022.
Born in Dupont, Sept. 4, 1925, she was the last surviving child of the late Ferdinando and Anna Lello Pierantoni.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Raymond Monk; siblings, Rose Patte; Anthony J. Pierantoni Sr.; Anita Berrettini; and Fred A. Pierantoni Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are son, Fred Monk; daughter, Staton Meade and husband, John; grandchildren, Jenny Long and husband, Joe; Jamie Anushko and husband, Keith; and Matthew Meade; great-grandchildren, Joseph Long; Jack Long; Julia Rose Long; and Sophie Celeste Anushko.
Arrangements are in the care of Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Twp.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's Primitive Methodist Church, 314 Main St., Avoca.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Primitive Methodist Church. Officiant will be the Rev. Dale Pepper. Graveside services will follow in Langcliffe Cemetery, Avoca.
