John Casimir Shelton, Jr., age 33, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 29, 2022. He was born in Oklahoma City to Mary Bickerstaff and John Casimir Shelton, Sr.
Growing up, John was involved in multiple sports and extracurricular activities. He was a dedicated member of the swim team at Putnam City High school. John graduated in 2007 and continued on to proudly work at the VA Hospital. During his 7 years of employment there, he was loved by all and proudly affected the lives of countless patients. John was always in a good mood and had a smile for you no matter the circumstance. People naturally gravitated towards him because of his huge heart and his acceptance and love for everyone. John was a free spirit with an adventurous soul who enjoyed hiking, swimming, skydiving, and travelling. He loved attending plays and concerts. John had a tremendous love for animals, often rescuing and adopting those who needed a home. His bright smile, kindness, and laugh will be treasured and missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Jean Varner and Gene and Louise Shelton.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Bickerstaff; father, John Shelton, Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeremiah and Meggan Bickerstaff, Joel and Sara Bickerstaff, and Christian Shelton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A celebration of life for John will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
