Franklin Charles George Jr. entered into The Kingdom of Heaven on June 27, 2022, at the age of 85 from Cape Canaveral Hospital.
He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1960 with a science degree in industrial Management. He received a master's degree in Business from FIT.
After graduating from Georgia Tech, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia and then in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was on active duty for 2 years and in the reserves for 6 years.
He was employed by Eli Lilly & Company for 31 years. During this time, he was a franchisee for Hardee's Restaurants. He also started a playground company, Play Pal. After retiring from Lilly and selling the businesses he bought property and started a citrus grove selling fruit and having a mail order business.
When he wasn't working Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and watching college football. He was a member of First Baptist church of Merritt Island.
This wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Virginia; his brother, Kenneth George and wife Kay, sister Bootsie Lanpher, sister-in-law Lyn George and preceded in death by his brother Wayne George; his children, Catherine George Rodgers, Karen George Muller and husband Michael, Kimberly George Oakley and husband Ed, and Franklin Charles George III; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Noon at the Madison City Cemetery.
