A Memorial Service-Celebration of Life for Dixon V. "Shorty" Stovall, 78, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Dixon V. "Shorty" Stovall was called home to Glory by our LORD on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, now free from pain and cancer as he received the ultimate healing. Guests will be invited to share a loving memory of Shorty. He was born to Dixie and Joe Stovall on January 21, 1939 in Garrison, Texas. They moved to Lufkin while Shorty was a baby. Shorty spent his entire life in the Redland and Lufkin area graduating from Redland High School in 1957. As a teenager he worked for D.H. Walker Grocery. He was a Sunbeam Bread salesman for 7 1/2 years and then was employed at the Paper Mill in Lufkin for 36 years until retirement in 2001. He married Beatrice Wall August 22, 1958 and she was his helpmate for 59 years. They enjoyed all seasons of their lives together. The last 35 years playing music on stage and with friends. Shorty loved to play the fiddle, especially Cajun music. Shorty is survived by his wife; daughter and husband, Sheila and Dale Rains of Lufkin; sons, Dixon "Tommy" Stovall of Lufkin and Sammy Stovall of Nixa, Missouri; grandchildren, Jarred and Carrie Baker of Central Heights, Adam Rains of Lufkin, Amber Adams of Round Rock, Dala and Brett Cook of Grandbury, Joe Stovall of Smithville, Alyssa Rains of Athens, Kyle Stovall of Montgomery, Hadley Stovall and Hudson Stovall, both of Nixa, Missouri; brother, Billy Joe Stovall of Lufkin; sister, Carolyn Duke and husband Billy of West Columbia; twin sisters, Beryl Bryant and Sheryl Lehr and husband Allen, all of Lufkin; brothers-in-law, R.A. Wall and wife Susie, Jim Wall and wife Linda; and additional family members, Logan, Molly, Phyllis, Hannah, Hadlee, Emma, Lindon, Tiffany, and Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Thomas Stovall. The family wishes to thank all that have lifted them up to God during this time. We especially thank Kathy and Lauren with Affinity Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Affinity Hospice, 2708 S.
