William "Bill" Perry May, 84, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 after an extended battle with cancer.

He was born on January 24, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to the late Walter P. May and Jessie Mildred Winkle.

He married Nancy (Anderson) May in 1984 and she survives.

William served in the United States Army and Navy for 6 years where he received training to become a nurse. He, later, worked as a travel nurse and at Dukes Memorial Hospital as a surgical nurse. Bill worked for close to 50 years as a nurse and he wholeheartedly loved his job. As a testament to the type of nurse that Bill was; he received many letters of commendation throughout his career.

William was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW Post 2067, and Peru Maennerchor. He was also a member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, step-children, Ben Hoover, Amy Hoover and 7 step-grandchildren.

William is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Don May, and sister, Maxine Clute.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 2pm at the VFW, 151 East Washington Avenue, Peru, Indiana. Military rites will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.

Burial will take place in Monroe, Michigan at a later date with his parents.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
