Last rites held at Alva May 19 for C. W. Milton

Funeral services for Charles Wyatt Milton, 69, a retired Illinois Central Railroad clerk were held Friday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hopewell Methodist Church in the Alva community.

Rev. Price Middleton and Rev. Paul Higgason officiated. Burial was in Parker Cemetery with C. O. Pate Funeral Home of Senatobia in charge.

Mr. Milton, a native of Webster County, died May 17 at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis of a heart attack. He grew up in the Alva Community and for the past several years had made his home at Senatobia.

A former school teacher, he had served in schools in Webster, Montgomery, Calhoun, Choctaw, Grenada, and Carroll counties. He last taught in the city school system at Collins, after which he moved to Memphis and was employed as a clerk by the IC Railroad.

Mr. Milton was a Methodist and a Mason.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Ora Hood Milton; a son, D. D. Milton of Senatobia; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Carver of Alva; two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Neal of Jackson and Mrs. J. R. Earnest of Amory; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Albert Latham, C. B. Blaylock, Charles Milton, Ralph Ingram, B. H. Hood, and Howard E. Philley.
