Larry Revel
Monroe - Larry D. Revel, age 79, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, surrounded by family.
Born August 9, 1941 in Monroe, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ruth (Clock) Revel. Larry attended Monroe High School. On October 6, 1960, Larry married the love of his life, Ila M. Johnson, in Monroe. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2020.
Larry worked as an Overhead Crane Operator for North Star Steel for 21 years, retiring in 2001. Larry was a simple man who enjoyed reading the Bible, going to church, listening to the Gaither Vocal Band, camping with family and friends, and watching television when he was able. Larry, along with his wife, Ila, was a Detroit Tigers fan. He also enjoyed going out to local restaurants, especially to Dena's Kitchen for breakfast.
To cherish his memory, Larry leaves behind his beloved wife, Ila Revel, of Monroe; six children: Lisa (Mike) Brown, Monica (Frank) Peterson, Larry (Karen) Revel, Holly (Dave) Hough, Gregory (Beth) Revel, and Brandon Revel; son-in-law, Walter Emerick; sister, Jacquelyn "JJ" Cook; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and countless cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by two daughters, Tammy Emerick in 1998 and Shannon Revel in 1993.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 South Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI 48161. He will lie in state Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at North Monroe Street Church of God at 10:00 a.m., with services celebrating his life beginning at 11 a.m. Rev. Rick Massingill, Pastor of the church, will officiate, and Larry's grandson, Bruce Revel, will assist. Funeral services will be livestreamed and may be watched by visiting Bacarella Funeral Home's website or by following this link https://webcasts.lifetributes.com/1134174. Burial will be at LaSalle Twp. Cemetery, and a luncheon will follow at Victory Temple Church of God, 11166 S. Dixie Hwy, Erie, MI.
