Troy Wayne Vaughn 73 of Wharton, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, 27, 2022, he passed peacefully after o long illness.
Troy was born November 22, l948. He was the sixth of eight children of Melvin "Marshall" and Laura Vaughn, in Carter County, TN.
After graduating from Ellizabethon High School he served in the US Navy. While working in a Florida factory Troy met his soon to be wife Jerri and they later settled in West Virginia.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Laura Vaughn and his wife, Jerri; brothers, Jim and Lewis Vaughn; and sisters; Lois Smith and Kathy Huffman.
Troy is survived by a brother, Charles (Kathy) Vaughn of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Rebecca "Ruth" (Roscoe) Sams of Elizabethon, TN; Doris (Bill) Cantell of Shreveport, LA; and a bonus brother/cousin Bobby Hubbard; son, Jody(Tonia) Hoover of Wharton; daughter, Laura (Scott) Poore, Dunbar, WV; grandchildren, Coty Hoover, Kiersten Stepp, Kelsie Poore and Reagin Shankle; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Troy attended Greenwood Church of God for many years. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with family.
Anyone who knew Troy knew him as a witty guy, never missing the chance to joke and carry on with others. He was a devoted father, grandfather, a loving brother and friend to many.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2022 Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV. Burial will be at a later date at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.
