NEW BEDFORD - Robin Holmes has passed quietly at Care One Nursing Home in New Bedford, MA. He was 76 years old.

He was born on July 1, 1944 at Acushnet Hospital to Dorothy A. and Napoleon T. Holmes of Fairhaven Massachusetts.

Robin went to Rogers Elementary School in Fairhaven. He spent his freshman high school year at Vocational High School in New Bedford where he displayed a good talent for football. He transferred to Fairhaven High School for his sophomore year and developed his football abilities for the Blue Devils under Mel Entin.

Robin was named football player of the week by the Standard Times many times during his 3 years at FHS. They gave him the nickname of "Crazy Legs". He played the fullback position and was captain of the team for his senior year. He was the Wonder Winner Player of the Week twice and a two-time All-Bristol County award winner.

He was also on the track team. His 10.4 second 100 yard dash was still a school record when he was initiated into the Fairhaven High School's Hall of Fame on June 27, 1999. He and his track teammates won the St. John Prep Invitational in 1961.
