He was born on March 24, 1945, in Utica, a son of the late Leslie and Minnie (Hagel) Thomas. Paul attended Utica Free Academy and then joined the Navy upon his graduation. Serving from 1965 – 1969, Paul worked as a Radio Operator onboard a P-3 Orion and was the recipient of the National Defense Service and Vietnam Service medals.
On November 29, 1974 he was united in marriage to Georgia J. Bingham, in Bel Air, Maryland. Paul worked for many years as a machinist, most recently at Riverhawk Company in Clinton, NY. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Paul enjoyed metal detecting, photography, and gardening during his free time.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 47 years, Georgia; children, Jesse Thomas (Andrea), Paul Thomas, and Jaime Fonner; grandchildren, Sam and Kate Thomas, and Benjamin Fonner.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie ("Pat") Thomas.
The family would like to thank the staff of Dr. Butala's office, for their care and compassion.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 2 PM – 4 PM, a service for Paul will immediately follow.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
