May B. McCollum Freeman, age 87, of Easley, SC, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at her home.
Born September 13, 1934, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Monroe McCollum and Willie Evans McCollum.
She was twice married; first to the late Denver Brown and then to the late A.M. Freeman. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lewis McCollum; and sisters, Betty M. Bridges, Frances M. Shackleford, Louise M. Miller, and Linda M. Nichols.
May was saved at 16 years old at Centerville Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, visiting the beach, and collecting dolls and angels. May liked to look her best and took extra care to never leave the house without her full makeup on and her hair styled. Her daughters remember her as a playful, wonderful and involved mother who made lasting memories they will always cherish.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa Freeman Lesley and Sandy Brown Moran; grandchildren, Stephanie Paschal (Brian), Chad Leslie (Michael), Amanda Waldrop, and Tyler Lesley (Hannah); great grandchildren, Zoe, Armor, and Silas; and special sister-in-law, Olga McCollum.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 3, 2022, from 12:30-1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Tom Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
