Ronald Gary Osborne passed away in a work-related accident on June 27, 2022.

Ron was born on October 19, 1942, in Murray, Utah to Roland and Dorothy Osborne.

He was raised on a dairy farm in Crescent, Utah, the second of 5 children.

He met the love of his life, Barbara Peterson, while playing volleyball at a church youth activity. They fell in love and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ron and Barbara celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 21st. They were the proud parents of 5 children and 16 grandchildren (who endearingly called him "Gramps", "G-Ron" or "Man").

Ron's unparalleled work ethic started on the family dairy farm, where he worked alongside his father, mother, siblings, nephews, and sons milking cows and doing all the chores required to maintain the farm. Despite a full-time career for the Salt Lake County Fire Department and owning a successful trucking business, Ron continued to milk cows at 3:00 a.m. for decades after moving off the farm.

The only thing Ron loved more than good, hard work was his family. He loved any family event, no matter the activity or location. If his family was present, he was happy and smiling. Ron would move mountains to attend the sporting and extracurricular activities of his children and grandchildren, even if it meant going back to work for several hours after and missing sleep.

Ron loved to travel and visited more than 25 countries with Barbara and sometimes their children. He had Jazz tickets for 31 seasons and loved to attend games with his brothers and friends, but especially his children and grandchildren (where they would be treated a dinner before and ice cream at half-time).

Ron had a simple, but deep and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This faith was evident in all aspects of his life and particularly in the way he treated everyone he encountered. He is well known for his acts of kindness.

Ron served in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially enjoyed serving as a missionary with Barbara in the Salt Lake City Inner City Mission and later in the Conference Center at Temple Square.

When Ron could not be with his family, he was always at work. He retired from the Salt Lake County Fire Department after 25 years of service to pursue the small business more fully he had started many years prior - Ron Osborne Trucking. Ron really enjoyed the longstanding and meaningful relationships with his employees and customers.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Dorothy, older brother DeLoy, one infant sister, SueAnn and brother-in-law Val Bowlden.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Ronnie (Becky), Matt (Kim), Marcy Balfe (Kevin), Clay (Kysa), Oakley Scott (Jake); 16 grandchildren; siblings, Randy (Vickie), Pam Bowlden and sister-in-law Marie Osborne.

Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Ron would love and the family requests that you make a donation of money, goods or time to anyone who stands in need.
