Terry Daniel Smart
Sep 24, 1946 - Jun 26, 2022

Terry Smart died June 26, 2022 at Germantown Methodist Hospital. Terry was from Scottsboro, Alabama and was a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Psi fraternity. He then moved to Memphis to attend Memphis State Law School, where he remained and practiced law for the rest of his career. He may have relocated to Memphis, but that did not stop him from answering his telephone "Roll Tide" on every single game day. As well as spending a great bit of time with his close friends down at "the condo" in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Terry was an avid decoy collector and developed lifelong friendships throughout the United States during his trips to decoy shows. He was the past president of the Evans Decoy Collectors Society. After retirement, he co-authored a book on Evans Decoys with his friend and fellow collector, Andy Schoneich. A large sample of Terry's Evans decoys can be enjoyed while they are currently on display at the Ducks Unlimited Museum in the Bass Pro Pyramid.

Terry loved to hunt and fish throughout the United States and abroad. He was a member of the historic Toothpick Club of Memphis, where he spent time with his son (Hawk) and close friends, discussing their latest fishing or hunting trip over a meal of wild game. And enjoying a beverage from the Toothpick Club's beloved bartender, Melvin.

Terry is survived by his son Hawk (Monica), his brother Tim and sister Brenda (Curt), his nieces Leah (Sarah) and Megan, and his beloved great niece Elliott, and all of the lucky ducks that flew outside of the range of his 10 gauge in Harrisburg, AR. Services will be provided at the Goosepond Cemetery in Scottsboro, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Goosepond Cemetery, (251) 259-1069.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 8, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Goosepond Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Scottsboro.
