Long Time Salem Resident Taken
S. S. Brock Dies Suddenly at His Home in This City -- Funeral Friday.
Seaman S. Brock, a well known resident of this city, died suddenly at his home on Nineteenth and Kansas streets a few minutes after 8 o'clock yesterday morning. The funeral will be held at the residence, Friday at 2 o'clock p. m. by Rev. H. E. Marshall. After the services the G. A. R. will take charge of the remains and will conduct the services at the Odd Fellows cemetery.
Mr. Brock arose in the morning under the usual circumstances and after starting a fire in the kitchen stove went out of the room. In a few minutes he returned and remarked to his wife that he was not feeling well. He made an attempt to reach the bed but fell prostrate to the floor. Mrs. Brock, who is an invalid, was alone with her husband when he fell and was unable to render any assistance, but with the aid of a chair was able to reach a front window and attract the attention of one of the neighbors. Before he reached the room, however, Mr. Brock had passed away.
Seaman S. Brock was born in Holmes county, Ohio, and came to Oregon in 1890. He was 67 years of age and had been a resident of Salem for many years. He leaves besides his wife, two sons, Arthur of this city, and Clyde, who is engaged in banking in Heppner, Or. The latter was notified of his father's death yesterday and will arrive here today.

BROCK, C. S. Beautiful Services Held Over Dead -- C. S. Brock is Buried -- Various City Organizations Are Represented The funeral of C. S. Brock, who died at the family residence, 1695 Nineteenth street, April 30, was held yesterday from the residence at 2 o'clock, by Rev. H. E. Marshall of the Baptist church.
The burial took place in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Special music was rendered including solos by Mrs. George O'Neil and Miss Hogue. The pall bearers were all members of the board of deacons of the Baptist church and included W. F. Foster, U. J. Hart, Albert Copley, C. R. Gregg, E. A. Miller, and F. H. Reasoner. A solemn and impressive ceremony was the placing of the flag over the breast of the body by members of the Womans Relief Corps of the G. A. R. The G. A. R. also read the ritual service at the grave and acted as a body escort with crossed flags under which the bearers bore the remains.
Mr. Brock was a prominent and respected member of the Baptist church of this city. He leaves a wife and two boys, Clyde Brock of Heppner, Oregon, who was present at the funeral and Arthur Brock, a well known printer of this city.
