Kyle Magruder Hughes, beloved and cherished son of Claudia Magruder Featherstone and the late Dr. Rick Hughes, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital Knoxville surrounded by his family. His family finds comfort in knowing that his Dad and Grandparents were there to greet him with open arms. Kyle was a member of First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge and was a graduate of West High School in Knoxville.

Kyle laughed, sang, and danced throughout his short 34 years, bringing love, joy, and happiness to everyone he met. A lover of game shows, on any given day you might find Kyle choosing a letter, answering in the form of a question, "Coming on Down" and putting in his bid, going for the Big Deal of the Day, or guessing one of the top one hundred responses. Anytime a good rodeo event was on tv, Kyle would don his chaps, hat and cowboy gear and compete with the best of them. He was quite creative, loving art, music, playing his guitar, and he was an avid collector of gloves and hats. Kyle loved all sports, bowling, golf, football, basketball, baseball, and even attempted wrestling with Lynn at one point. He was generous with his fandom, cheering equally for the University of Tennessee Volunteers, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and the Ole Miss Rebels out of respect for his Mom, Dad, and Papa Lauch.

The Hughes family will receive visitors Saturday, July 2nd beginning at 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Kyle will be immediately following the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Gary Meade. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Honoring Kyle as pallbearers will be Jim Smith, Ken Van Skiver, Billy Ozment, Jennifer Pesek, Michelle Pesek, Dustin Phelps and Doug White.

He is survived by his parents, Claudia Magruder Featherstone and husband, Lynn, Peggy Tiller Hughes; grandparents, Lauch M. Magruder, Jr., Birdie D. Featherstone; aunts and uncles, special "Aunt Katie", Kay Magruder Van Skiver and husband Ken, Pam Carr, Susan Vassar and husband Jim, Sandy Scheer and husband Bill, Cathy Britton, Brenda Pesek, Dr. Wayne Hughes and wife Che, Dr. Glenn Hughes and wife Barbi; great-uncles Jere Ozment, Bill Magruder and wife Nell, and many cousins. Kyle will also be missed by a multitude of friends including special friends Jack and Connie Greene and family, Andy Idol and family, John Ransone, and Chris Cutshall.

Kyle is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Richard Lynn Hughes; and grandparents, Gloria Ozment Magruder, Jane Magruder and Jess and Margaret Hughes.
