Mr. Troy Ogletree Ballard, age 94, of Zebulon, passed away March 17, 2007 at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Griffin. He was born in Pike County to the late William Powell Ballard and Susie Davis Ballard. He was a longtime member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, a 52 year Mason and member of Montgomery Lodge #31 in Zebulon and veteran of the United States Army. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Ballard; grandchildren: Lori Ballard and Conrad Ballard; brothers: John H., Alton, Roswell, C.F., Melville and William (Billy) Ballard; sisters: Hattie Turner and Oressa Pitts. He is survived by his dear, loving wife of 67 years, Mary Ballard; Daughter; Grandchildren and their spouses; Great-grandchildren; Son-in-law; Daughter-in-law; Sisters and a brother-in-law: Bena Williamson of Eatonton and Frances and Henry Milam of Barnesville; Sisters-in-law: Sally Ballard of Atlanta, Jeffie Ballard of Zebulon, Betty Ballard of Marietta and Faye Ballard Bunn of Griffin; Brother-in-law : Mitchell Turner, Sr. Of Williamson; special niece and nephew: Linda and Don Birath of Zebulon; Special friends: Jerry and Debra Laabs of Zebulon and friends and caretakers at Brightmoor Nursing Center. Numerous other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 19 at 11 a.m. in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Wilson and the Rev. Ted Moody officiating, Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Moody Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
