Douglas Jay Kopcial of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 peacefully at his home.

The son of Walter and Darlene (Smith) Kopcial, Douglas was born June 11th, 1950 in Mansfield and graduated from Malabar High School, class of 1968. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Memphis State University, now known as the University of Memphis. He then went on to law school at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at Memphis State Univerity, graduated in 1987, and passed the Ohio Bar in 1988. Douglas was an attorney in Mansfield and in his later years worked with the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library. Douglas's leisure activities were reading, more reading, golf, running, bonsai, and fly fishing.

Besides his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his sister Debra Kopcial Brown, Niece Shannon Rose, grandparents, Ralph and Sadie Smith, and Jacob and Mary Kopcial.

Douglas is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Ruth Kopcial, and brother, Donald Kopcial. Also surviving are a nephew, Timothy Kopcial, nephew-in-law, Eddie Rose, and three grand nieces, Mikaela Brown, Mercedes Rose, and Infiniti Rose. He is also survived by his cousins and two very special caregivers, Katy and Howard Palmer.

A Celebration of Life for Douglas will be held at a future date in Mansfield with his burial in Mansfield Cemetery.
