Josiah H. Ocker was born in Snyder county, Pennsylvania, Nov. 9, 1837, died at Shell Knob, Missouri, March 2, 1916, age 78 years, 3 months and 23 days. He was married in Pennsylvania, Dec. 24, 1861 to Sarah A. Havice and moved to Erie county shortly after, living there a few years and moved to Macon where they lived about 40 years, when his wife died Dec. 20, 1910.
Nov. 25,1913, he united in marriage to Mrs. Frankie Pound at Shell Knob, Mo., where he spent the rest of his days.
In his youth he joined the Episcopal Church, in Ohio he joined the Seventh day Adventist Church in which he lived a consistent member until the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn their loss a devoted wife, three sons, William H., C. Jay, and Earnest L. of Atlanta, Macon County, Mo. one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Weekly San Diego Cal., three brothers and three sister, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
His body was laid to rest at the Painter cemetery at Shell Knob here to await the resurrection. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Kimball, pastor of the Baptist church of that place. — A Son.
