Barbara Anne Banning
January 15, 1933 ~ June 24, 2022 (age 89)

Surrounded by family, friends, and caregivers on June 24, 2022, Barbara Anne, 89, closed her blue eyes and drew her last breath. Born January 15, 1933 in Columbus, OH to Jesse Paul and Elizabeth Ranck, she graduated from North High School in Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio State University.

Barbara was a world traveler having lived in Japan, Panama Canal Zone, and Delaware, MD before settling in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was a career civil servant working as an executive secretary and later as a contracting officer, retiring with 30 years of service. A member and former officer of Beta Sigma Phi (Theta Eta chapter), Barbara was also an independent fashion and cosmetic consultant. Barb was a gifted pianist, vocalist, artist and model, but her most remarkable talent was her incredible sense of humor and infectious laugh. She brightened every room she entered and the lives of everyone with whom she came into contact.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Ronda Banning Webster (Mike); her grandsons, Zachary Webster (Natalie), Luke Webster, and Jake Webster with whom she had a special bond. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas (Tom) Banning; her brother, Dr. Robert Ranck; and her sister, Dorothy Given.

Barbara spent the last eight years of her life as a resident of Belvedere Commons where she received loving care.

She also spent her most fulfilled days during those years at Magnolia Manor Senior Day Care with special heartfelt thanks to Valerie and Scott Anthony, their staff; and musician, Rick. Barbara so lovingly had her days brightened there with music, dancing, and laughter.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday July 9, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Holiday Inn Resort, 1299 Miracle Strip Pkwy, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Private interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery prior to the service.

Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org or Joslin Diabetes Center www.Joslin.org.
