CORTLAND — Brian Scott Tanner, 60, entered into rest Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Cleveland following a brief illness.
Brian was born March 6, 1962, in Warren, to parents Charles and Grace Ritch Tanner.
Brian was a 1979 graduate of Lakeview High School and a 1981 graduate of Lewis, Weinberger & Hill School of Cosmetology. Brian passed his Ohio state cosmetology exam in 1981 and began his career as a hair stylist at David's Designers of Hair in Warren. He also worked at Orr-Dell's in Niles, The Place to Be and Flo's in Cortland.
While working at the hair trade during the day, Brian pursued his passions for magic and music at night. He was a skilled magician and spent his entire life perfecting his techniques. He also joined TNT playhouse, first in behind-the-scenes work and later, he became a performer. His love of music led him to becoming a DJ and his karaoke shows were popular at a number of local venues. Brian was an entertainer at heart.
He realized his lifelong dream of living in California, settling in the Fresno area and joining the Fresno Magic Club. While he enjoyed his time there, he came back home in 2019, to Cortland, where he lived until his death.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert and Paul of Cortland; his sister, Betsy Tanner of Warren; and his beloved cat, Lenny.
