Born, February 7, 1930, in Colonie, he was the son of the late Carl Lucas and Mahelcha Prusick Lucas.
Charles proudly served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1953.
On, February 16, 1958, at St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie, he married the former Shirley Long. Mrs. Lucas survives at home.
Charles worked as an engineer for IBM before his retirement in 1984
Charles enjoyed wood carving, photography and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Jeffery Lucas, and partner Loretta Hill; Patricia Houston and husband Colin; and Steve Lucas and wife Maureen, his three grandchildren, John Lucas, Emily Gasperini, her husband Dan, and Hannah Lucas; one great granddaughter Cecelia Gasperini.
Along with his parents he was also predeceased by his siblings, Ken Lucas, Lillian Hatlee, and Amelia Fay Platt.
Calling hours will be on Thursday June 30th, from 10am to 12 Noon, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9 Hyde Park, NY 12538.
A Funeral Service will take place following the calling hours.
Burial will follow in the Family plot at St. Peters Cemetery.
Wearing of masks would be appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, Charles's family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in his memory.
