Georgia Brown, adored matriarch of her family, passed away Saturday April 23, 2022 at the age of 101. She has been a resident of Hilltop in Johnson City for the last 10 years. She was born in western New York and had resided in Trumansburg, NY for most of her life. Georgia was predeceased by her parents George and Mabel Merrill Langdon, her infant brother Walter; her sisters Mabel Irene Armer and Mary Young, her brothers Lester Merrill, and Donald Merrill. She was also predeceased by her 1st husband, Richard Good, 2nd husband of 45 years Gordon Brown; her Son Charles Rodney Brown and Daughter Sharon Drake. She is survived by daughter-in-law Donna Brown & friend Wayne Myers; son-in-law Ford Drake; grandchildren and their families- Thomas and Susan Brown, Mikayla & Katelyn; Linda and Dennis Simmons, Kyle and Abigail; Colleen Coolican, Taylor, Marissa and Ryan; Stephen and Erica Drake and Tara; many nieces, nephews and extended family as well. Georga worked hard to manage their farm and she worked in the food service division at Tompkins County Hospital. Georgia and Gordon were longtime members of the First Presbyterian church of Ulysses and devoted volunteers in the church. She loved to garden and grow her roses, crochet, play scrabble and do puzzles. She and Gordon also enjoyed traveling after their retirement. Georgia settled into her new life at Hilltop and she became a familiar face at the community puzzle table with her dear friends. She was always there for the impromptu parties with her friends, and they shared many delightful days together. She has enjoyed many special times with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren…. particularly if cheeseburgers, fries and ice cream were on the menu! She was the last of her generation in the family, and shared many anecdotes and memories of the family's history over the years. She also leaves behind dear friend Helen Telep and her Pastor Lea Harding, and others at Hilltop who shared her love of puzzles and some good-natured feisty chatter; her dear friend and care giver Anna Beers and her husband David. Georgia's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Hilltop for their years care and support of Georgia over these years; also, thanks to the staff at Elizabeth Church Manor for their comforting care in her final days. Burial will be in Trumansburg NY and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date
