He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Rollins Barnes; and his parents, Stephen and Margaret Barnes. He is survived by his siblings, Steve, Jr., Mike, Chandler, Kim, Sue Albaugh (John), Mary Woods (David), Katie Holmes (Chuck), Erica Irwin (Dave); and stepson, Kenny Wayne Turner.
