Roger L. Morton, 86, of Dixie, Fayette County, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, in CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

Roger was born July 25, 1921, at Elverton and was the son of the late Edgar R. and Rosette Bird Morton. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Lee Morton, and sister, Shirley Moore.

Roger was a World War II Army veteran. He retired in 1983 from Elkem Metals Company, Alloy. He was a generous, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved to travel, fish and garden.

Surviving Roger are his loving wife, Dot E. O'Dell Morton; his son, Alan Morton and companion, Kathleen McQuade, of Fayetteville; daughter, Julie Riddle and husband, Burton, of Charlton Heights; daughter-in-law, Tina Morton Tolley of Smithers; grandchildren, Jason Morton, Megan Morton, Joshua Arden, Matthew Arden, Sheena Morton and Angie Jones and husband, Shannon; great-granddaughter, Makynnah Jones; sister, Betty Moore and husband, Hugh, of Hico; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Pennington Funeral Home Chapel, Gauley Bridge, with the Rev. Shane A. Wynn officiating. Entombment will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
